Shure SM 81 Mircophone

I picked up a Shure SM81 microphone the other day to add to my recording mic cabinet. It's a high quality mic that really does a good job on acoustic guitar and other wood instruments. I've had my eye on one for a while and finally stepped up and bought one. I'm looking forward to hearing the results soon with my Collins D1 guitar as I am working on a project here in my home studio.

Collings D1 Guitar

I traveled up to Maple Street Guitars yesterday and picked up a new Collings D1 guitar. The folks up there really take pride in what they do and I enjoyed my visit. Thanks Keith for all your help. The D1 is a great sounding guitar with balance and lots of volume. I'm looking forward to picking it on stage next week at the Red Light Cafe and at the Raccoon Creek Bluegrass festival.

Picking with my son

I had a chance to have my oldest son Andy play on stage with me on June 20th at the Hollonville Opry House. This was the first time we have had a chance to pick together on stage, Andy did a great job and I'm so proud of him. A special thanks to my great friend Michelle Philips for helping us out on Bass.

New recording setup

I recently aquired some new equipment and software for my home studio. I purchased an Apogee Duet interface and Logic software so all my recording on is controlled and stored on my Mac. I can believe the sound quality the Apogee provides and how easy Logic is to operate. You can learn more about the Apogee Duet by clicking here.

It's lots of fun being able to talk with all the artist backstage and see all my friends that come to shows. Of course I take the opportunity to snap a few photo's while I'm there too. You can visit the Hoofer's website to see upcoming shows.
